WS7, Session 2: Biomass Utilization and Food Security: Synergies and Challenges

Thu, November 21, 2024 | 9:30 - 11:40 AM CEST

Introduction

Implementing new bioeconomy concepts regionally might lead to social, ecological and/or economic trade-offs. It is obvious that the achievement of specific bioeconomy goals must not be at the expense of other goals. As such, the transition towards sustainable, regenerative, inclusive and just regional bioeconomies requires a comprehensive and, at the same time, functional framework to navigate trade-offs and link bio-based solutions to the principles of sustainable development. Under this work stream, we want to discuss how trade-offs between competing interests of different stakeholders on ecosystem management can be effectively addressed by local communities.

The second session is about biomass utilization and food security: synergies and challenges.
